McDonald’s “Big Arch” Review: Bland & Disappointing

Bought From: McDonald’s via Doordash

Upon first glance the Big Arch looks impressive for something coming out of a McDonald’s. The fluffy seed bun. The white cheese. The sauce. Less greasy than the quarter pounder by far (maybe I just got lucky?). Bun quality is much better than their usual but that’s not saying much. Upon first bite I was impressed until I started actually tasting the food. This is extremely meat-cheese heavy. Not horrible, but the issue is that it’s rather plain..

First thoughts: Is the meat unseasoned like Five Guys (disgusting)? I double checked the web and found out it is in fact, seasoned, albeit lightly. So it begs the question.. How is this even possible when it contains 2000mg of sodium? I expected Quarter Pounder vibes in terms of the seasoned beef flavor.. The fried onions are hardly there, but appreciated when they are (may have gotten shorted). Biggest issue is the sauce. It’s not very tasteful. Bland. Slight Big Mac vibes but the cheese is so overwhelming it barley registers. That should be the burger’s saving grace, but it falls short like the rest of it. I appreciate the fresh meat and the bun. The cheese is better than the chain’s American counterpart. I actually felt “full” just a few bites in. Not because I was actually full, but because it lacked flavor.

The Quarter Pounder remains king in my book when it comes to Micky D’s. With a soft spot for the Big Mac (if Big Mac used fresh meat it would easily be #1). Very disappointed, but then again, it’s McDonald’s..

5/10, won’t be buying this one again.
