Definition:
Pragmalinguistics is the study of the linguistic resources and strategies — vocabulary, grammatical structures, prosodic patterns, discourse markers, and formulaic expressions — that speakers deploy to perform pragmatic functions such as making requests, expressing disagreement, hedging claims, complaining, complimenting, apologizing, and refusing. What Pragmalinguistics Studies
